What is the Harmoni IOL?

Cataract Surgery ALWAYS requires an IOL

At the time of cataract surgery, the cloudy lens (the cataract) is surgically removed and then replaced with an artificial lens called an intra-ocular lens (or IOL for short). The Harmoni IOL is a CE-approved lens that is very progressive in many ways. The design is suggesting that this IOL may be particularly stable within the eye and also that the incidence of clouding of the posterior capsule or “after cataract” as it is known, will be less common. What has got most eye surgeons and patients alike excited though is the ability to swap out the optic part and upgrade this in the future should more intelligent optics become available. So in essence, this is the first UPGRADE-ABLE IOL. If you are interested in participating in this study, please contact the WEC. Enrolment is completed. Entry to the study is now closed.
